After attending Farmingdale College in New York in 1994, Bernie became a supervisor at S. DiGiacomo & Son. His greatest experiences have been in the field working with a team of men and women to deliver projects to clients. In 2000 Bernie became an Executive Project Manager whose responsibilities included; Budgeting, Estimating, Logistics, Project Management, Monitoring of labor, Scheduling, General Conditions management, Company staffing.
In 2006 he moved to Oxford Construction as a Vice President. Bernie took a great deal of pride in the role the company plays in building facilities that helped their clients provide superior services. After successfully maintaining a business structure for Oxford Construction, he joined Bruno Frustaci Contracting to continue business in New York. Working with Bruno Frustaci, the largest up and coming CM and Developer in the New York area, runs several new construction projects in the New York City area. Bernie’s goal is to have the company recognized by clients as delivering the highest construction management standards in the industry.
This goal structure requires him to work closely with contractors, all agencies and stakeholders involved in the project to resolve conflicts that may impede work activities from advancing. He provides the layout for the construction functions as they relate to the completion of the project. Bernie has overseen design and construction activities provided by the Engineers and/or Architects. He coordinates and provides direction for the budgeting, estimating, purchasing, engineering and accounting.
Bernie develops the initial schedule, sequencing and communicates to stakeholders involved in the project. He also develops new buildings by providing his team with site logistics and temporary facility plans. He aids with obtaining permits and approvals required by the Department of Buildings, Department of Traffic, Cranes and Derricks, NYC Building Elevator Division and negotiates property easements when it is required. As Frustaci's Site Safety Manager he will submit a plan for approval to the Department of Buildings and has the ability to provide a Health and Safety Plan to his clients where environmental health is of pinnacle importance. Bernard prepares construction agreements, contracts and negotiates terms and conditions.
Bernie is a leader, manager and problem solver with management experience on projects of a vastly diversified size, scope and complexity. He has demonstrated experience coordinating design efforts and construction activities in areas such as architecture, mechanical, electrical or civil/structural engineering. He possesses extensive knowledge of “how to” procurement that is a tremendous obstacle on all construction projects.
